Russet-tipped Clubtail - Stylurus plagiatus male lateralSize: 2.4 in.

This beautiful clubtail can be found patrolling slow-moving rivers on hot August afternoons. The russet club, green striped thorax, and turquoise eyes make for a spectacular looking dragonfly. Note the two-toned legs. Uncommon along sandy-bottomed creeks and rivers.  The club on the western form (shown at right) has slightly less rust color than those found further east.
