Iowa Clubtails

Clubtails are some of more sought-after dragonflies, in part because they just look so cool and in part because they can be very difficult to find. Many have brightly colored and/or spatulate abdominal tips. Clubtails have small and widely separated eyes. Some may be found near ponds and lakes while others are found only along rivers. Iowa has 16 species in five different genera.
