Red Saddlebags - Tramea onusta male dorsal

Size: 1.8 in.

Told from the rare Carolina Saddlebags by the paler red color of the abdomen, red sides to S8-S9, less extensive spot in the hind wing, and primarily the red rather than violet forehead. Uncommon to common statewide around wetlands and ponds. Presumably most red saddlebags are this species.
